History of Magic

Wizards attack in A History of Goblin Rebellions

This was a really hard class to plan for because in the books it is just boring lectures, and no one on the internet seems to consider it for parties (with good reason)! The main part of the lesson was a 6-minute "documentary" about goblin rebellions that we made the week before camp and showed during class. Afterwards, I asked all the kids to name one thing they learned from the movie. Then we switched to the history of the Chicagoan Academy of Witchcraft and Wizardry (which you can read about under the "Sorting" post). The first session we ended with reading a story from Tales of Beedle the Bard, and the second session we talked a little bit about how the press has shaped wizarding history and then the kids were given some prompts to write an article for the Daily Prophet. Afterwards I typed up all their articles and put together a camp edition of the newspaper.

Prompts can be found here:http://www.llemonade.com/HPnovelstudy.html

And watch the Goblin Documentary right here!
