Flying Lessons

On the first day of camp, we had flying lessons as all first years must! Basically we laid some ground rules about brooms, i.e. they can only be out during Quidditch, no fighting with them or whacking etc. We also covered a tiny bit of history of flying brooms from Quidditch Through the Ages and taught the rules of Quidditch. The second session we tried playing a version of an ancient broom game described in QTtA which involved the kids holding their cauldrons on their head trying to catch gold coins we threw in the air, but this was rather chaotic because a few people bashed heads and got hit by brooms while everyone was looking up instead of where they were going. Also they were sad because it was hard to catch the coins and they thought they were earning them for their bank accounts. So it was better when we just did a mini Quidditch game for practice the first session.

We also tried decorating brooms one of the sessions by spray-painting them, but then they took a while to dry.
